Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

10th September 2012

At 10.51hrs this morning our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE was contacted directly by Lancashire Constabulary Force Incident Manager, with a request for the teams specialist Mountain Rescue Trailing Dog Boris (And his handler of course) to join in a search taking place by Lancashire Constabulary and Bowland Pennine MRT.

Our Search Dog Handler Steve Nelson became available from work commitments at 13.00hrs, collected Trailing Dog Boris, and set off for the journey to the search RVP at Abbeystead, in the Trough of Bowland, at 14.00hrs.

Once at the search area, Steve (Who is also a member of SARDA Wales) joined in a joint search operation to try and locate a missing male, in circumstances giving concern for his well being.

Lancashire Constabulary had called upon Bowland Pennine MRT to assist them, with BPMRT having been involved since 03.00hrs this morning, alongside Police assets.

A helicopter from the North West (Police) Air Operations Group was also involved.

Trailing Search Dog Boris established various scent trails, including one up onto the local moorland.

By mid evening the requirement for Steve and Boris had ended, with Steve and Boris back home for 19.30hrs.

At the time of Steve’s departure, enquiries were still in hand to locate the missing person.
