In addition to the comprehensive report we made on Wednesday 22nd August 2012, and a kind comment yesterday from GMFRS Andrew Dugdale, on the Second Annual Emergency Services Open Day at the Trafford Centre, Manchester, and further to the comments from GMFRS Ben Levy, Station Commander at Stretford Fire Station, and Steve McGuirk, GMFRS County Fire Officer and Chief Executive, that were contained within our initial report, today our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE received further comments, this time from Councillor Dylan Butt, the Deputy Mayor of Trafford, which is reproduced here for the information and interest of our readers;
“Dear all, I would just like to say how delighted the Deputy Mayoress an I were of having been invited to officially open the 2nd Emergency Services Day hosted at the Trafford Centre.”
“It was fascinating to visit and learn about many of the specialist units of GMFRS, GMP, NHS and other volunteer organisations that make up the mosaic of emergency services working to protect the public and business communities of Greater Manchester. As a GMFRA member myself I strongly support the need for such organisations to take the opportunity to inform the public on the range of services and partnerships working together in the interest of the public. I was impressed with the professionalism of the services and public spirited voluntary organisations engaging with families and specially the kids (is there a volume control on the sirens??).

I wish you even bigger success for next year’s event which I know will grow in size to become a major national event showcasing emergency services directly to the public.
(On the next occasion perhaps, circumstances allowing, the police helicopter might provide a fly-past for the visitors) My congratulations and well done to all for a very successful event. Best wishes and regards, Deputy Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Dylan Butt.”
