A recent tweet from our colleagues at Bowland Pennine MRT mentioned their nesting House Martins at their Headquarters building having fledged and flown.
Given the keenness of some BPMRT members who are bird watchers and their interest in their local wildlife, we thought we would mention for the interest of our readers some of the wildlife that lives around and even in our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ.
This year a very noisy family of Jackdaws was raised at the rear of our building, alongside our radio mast, whilst the usual family of Blue Tits was raised at the front of our building taking advantage of the many small crevices within our buildings stone work.
Soon our building will be buzzing again to the sound of the wasps that have taken up long term residence within the cavity wall of our main office area.
The resident Grey Squirrels sometimes enter our roof area, and their scampering around late at night, particularly if our members are working alone, can sometimes be a little unnerving – especially given the tales of our ghostly murmurings and ‘shadows’ seen occasionally in our adjacent outbuilding.
The mature and varied extensive woodland setting surrounding our Base / HQ is also host to a very wide selection of wildlife, including a great many Tawny Owls, Rabbits and even regularly seen Roe Deer.
